Conscious capitalism liberates the heroic spirit of entrepreneurship for good. \nThomas Eckschmidt (Speaker) \nThomas Eckschmidt is an engineer who holds an Executive MBA in finance from Business School São Paulo\, Brazil. His corporate journey included work in twenty different countries before he launched a successful entrepreneurial career that includes twelve business awards\, four patents filed\, and eleven books published. \nA strong believer that business leaders and organizations can do well by doing good\, Thomas has been promoting Conscious Capitalism since 2010. He launched a Conscious Capitalism chapter in Brazil and supported the launch of chapters in other countries. Thomas teaches Conscious Capitalism classes in major business schools and in Corporate Governance programs. He also runs workshops that teach the fundamentals of Conscious Capitalism. \nThomas is the cofounder and CEO of CBJ Conscious Business Journey a global network with the purpose to accelerate the change to a conscious business ecosystem. CBJ Certifies Conscious Business Change Agents based on the Conscious Capitalism Field Guide and Fundamentals of Conscious Capitalism to create an infrastructure of independent consultants to support organizations interested becoming more conscious business. Thomas also works as a trusted adviser to help organizations implement conscious practices. He cofounded a few conscious businesses along the way\, is a B-Corp certified entrepreneur and he also serves on the boards of several different companies. \nLocated in the heart of the vibrant Wynwood Arts District\, the LAB is Miami’s original coworking community. In 2012\, the founding members of the LAB teamed up with the Knight Foundation and a group of angel investors to convert a 10\,000 square foot warehouse into a shared office space and event venue. Learn about natural Florida! \nMAIN PROGRAM PRESENTATION:\nPlease join Nancy Bissett as she discusses an interesting topic that few programs go in-depth on: grasses\, rushes\, and sedges. Nancy will describe and delineate common selections used in the landscaping- some may appeal to you so much\, that you will consider them for your yard as well! \nRestoration ecologist\, botanist\, and horticulturist Nancy Bissett graduated from Florida Southern College (summa cum laude)\, with a Bachelor of Science degree in horticulture and botany\, June 1980. She and her husband\, Bill\, co-founded The Natives in 1982. Nancy serves as a consultant\, designs and installs upland restoration projects\, assists on research projects\, monitors and surveys vegetation in central Florida\, performs rare plant surveys\, and assists and advises on horticultural operations. \nNancy has developed techniques for restoring many upland communities including scrub\, sandhill\, and flatwoods that include site preparation\, planting\, direct-seeding native groundcovers\, and weed control. She has developed and enacted direct seeding projects for state and local agencies\, water management districts\, mitigation banks\, mined lands\, developers\, and corporations. As a botanist she has assisted with monitoring research projects for The Nature Conservancy\, Florida Institute of Phosphate Research\, and others. She has performed various rare plant and vegetation surveys\, and also helped federal\, state\, and local authorities find and evaluate rare plant communities. \nAs the developer of The Natives nursery\, Nancy has experimented with the propagation and growth of many natives plants\, including grasses\, wildflowers\, and rare species. \nFree admission.
