SUMMARY:Climate Community Social Hour
DESCRIPTION:Join us on August 24th for a special Climate Community Social Hour! For this event\, we are partnering with Clean Miami Beach\, a local registered 501c3 nonprofit organization founded by Miami Beach resident\, Sophie Ringel\, for a 1-hour cleanup of Manatee Bend Park before our social hour! \nAs this social hour we will be focusing on reducing waste\, we will also be featuring 2 guest speakers working towards solving pollution via scalable solutions and policy; Erika Gonzalez and Yadira Diaz. Thanks to the support of our Stage 1 SBA Growth Accelerator Fund Competition grant\, we’re able to come together for a night for interactive collaboration\, discussion\, and community building as well! We’ll also end the night with an asks & offers session to drive further collaboration across the community. \nAbout our speakers & featured event partner: \nErika Gonzalez is a Florida International University alum\, from where she received a B.S. in Hospitality and Tourism Management from the Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management\, and a certificate in Environmental Studies. Additionally\, she has been certified by The CLEO Institute as a climate change speaker. She now works as a Program Associate on World Wildlife Fund’s Food Loss and Waste team\, taking the lead on hospitality and food service projects. This work includes partnerships and engagement in food waste prevention and reduction with global leaders in hospitality and food service. \nYadira Diaz is a passionate advocate for sustainability and founder of Gradible\, Miami’s first environmental concierge company. With a focus on waste reduction and optimizing businesses’ bottom line\, Gradible strives to make finding sustainable solutions accessible and impactful. As a 100% female minority-owned business\, they take pride in creating positive change in the environment by working with organizations in the hospitality industry and beyond. \nClean Miami Beach is dedicated to keeping our community and natural habitats free of garbage and harmful pollutants with a focus on single-use plastics. The goal is to teach residents\, and educate the youth of today\, how everyone can reuse\, re-purpose\, and reduce the consumption of plastic. By growing the local volunteer community\, Clean Miami Beach will provide a clean place for residents\, visitors\, and a safe environment where our beautiful wildlife can thrive. Clean Miami Beach seeks to continue providing the Miami-Dade community with: healthy outside activities\, ways to connect with nature\, stable social interactions\, a platform for education\, community service hours\, and mentorship opportunities. \nThe event will be in the lounge at Miami Ironside. The address is 7580 NE 4th Ct.
