As leaders of our organizations\, we look for ways to transform ourselves\, our companies\, and our world into the change we seek. This is hard work. Old ways of thinking about ourselves\, our employees\, our company\, and our industry can impede progress. Whether the limitations and assumptions are with our view of leadership style\, business\, success\, gender\, ethnicity\, impact\, or worldview\, they can hold us back from true transformation. \nAt the Mo Summit 2020\, we will dive into the discovery of our assumptions that stunt our personal and professional growth and the transformation that awaits when the aperture of our consciousness expands. \nWe hope you will embark with us on this exciting journey!

SUMMARY:Learn about Passive House construction and how it works with LEED
DESCRIPTION:Join USGBC Florida today for a virtual introductory program about passive houses.\nBuildings that meet the Passive House standard use 70-90% less heating and cooling energy than conventional buildings\, have excellent indoor air quality\, superior comfort and are resilient in the face of extreme weather. \nGiven these benefits\, it’s no surprise that Passive House construction is gaining momentum throughout the US and that some energy codes are moving towards Passive House-levels of performance. This introductory lecture is meant to educate viewers about high-performance construction strategies\, how they can be applied in hot and humid climates and how they work with LEED.

SUMMARY:Goal Accountability Project (GAP) Information Session
DESCRIPTION:The Goal Accountability Project (GAP) Returns to The Greenhouse Offering Program in Resiliency for Small Businesses \nAbout the Program: \n“Bridging the GAP in your success: The Goal Accountability Project” is a collaboration with The Greenhouse and Pinellas County SCORE. GAP brings together a select group of business owners for an 8-week series starting on June 23. Sheila Hooper Neisler\, of Pinellas County SCORE and owner of Catalyst – A Marketing Company returns to facilitate the series. “The COVID-19 disruption to our businesses and our personal lives dramatically demonstrates how our goals\, enthusiasm and even our momentum can get derailed in a moment’s notice. Inertia\, busyness and distractions set in. We may have become complacent\, perhaps lazy in our focus\, productivity and accountability. (Efforts are for another day?). The reality is that these efforts are EXACTLY what we will need to get our individual businesses launched or back on track.” \nThe Goal Accountability Project is specifically designed to help create and nurture an individual and small group discipline to deliver results. Data has shown that past cohorts had 68% more focused on achieving their personally-set goals and 90% more confident in their ability to achieve them. \n“Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do!” Johann Wolfgange von Goethe \nInterested in participating? \nJoin us during the GAP Information webinar to learn more. \nEligibility: \nThere is no cost for participation in “Bridging the GAP\,” and the program is open to graduates of the Entrepreneurial Academy\, Small Business Enterprises (SBEs)\, Greenhouse clients with existing businesses and St. Petersburg’s second stage business owners. The class will be limited to 20 individuals and participants must complete an application to be selected. \nThe GAP Schedule: \nGAP Information Session: Tuesday\, June 2– 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM. \nGAP Sessions: Tuesdays\, June 23 – August 11 from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.

SUMMARY:Vizcaya Climate Collaborative: Play to Survive
DESCRIPTION:Examine active efforts to identify and implement collaborative solutions to the effects of climate change and extreme weather events.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this Event\n\n\nTime to put your survival skills to the test! During the next Vizcaya Climate Collaborative\, visitors take an active role in the climate change conversation with a role-playing\, puzzle-solving\, interactive game night. \nDesigned for the prepper at heart\, this program puts theory into practice using Vizcaya as a case study for participants to prepare or recover from the dire consequences of climate change and extreme weather events. \nHow would you prepare for a hurricane? And then recover once it’s hit? \nWhile you’re getting through the first round\, you’ll also be getting clues that grant you access to the safe zones in the ultimate test of skill – the zombie apocalypse. \n—————————– \nWelcome to the Vizcaya Climate Collaborative\, a series of programs that engage different aspects of environmental sustainability to foster conversation around the topic. This program uses games to address the very serious topic of disaster preparedness and recovery. After working through real-world scenarios using Vizcaya as a case study\, we’ll use what we learn to survive the zombie apocalypse. \nHow it works: \nUpon arrival\, the entire group will get an orientation to the night. From there we will start the game and expect about 45 minutes of game-play\, led by Vizcaya’s Collections Care Specialist. During the game\, you’ll get the clues you need to access the safe zones in Game 2\, the zombie apocalypse in Vizcaya Village. \nMore about the games: \nGame 1: disaster recovery. Storms are part of our lives in South Florida\, but they are getting progressively worse. Join us\, and 45 of your closest friends (who will become your allies in survival) to navigate all the moving pieces required to preserve Vizcaya. You’ll learn about what the museum does to prepare and how the museum activates recovery teams once a storm has passed to see how preservation and the changing climate can be at odds. You’ll even pick up some tips to apply in your own lives! \nGame 2: The CDC says if you’re prepared for the zombie apocalypse\, you’re prepared for everything. In this game\, the group will try to survive the zombie apocalypse in the most Miami fashion. Use what you learn in game 1 to gain admission into the safe zones\, which will be a mix of cocktails\, games\, and other delights. But don’t get comfortable – there is a fleet of zombies waiting to turn you.

SUMMARY:One Company’s Journey to Plastics and Carbon Neutrality
DESCRIPTION:As the second-largest greenhouse gas emitter in the world\, the U.S. will need to cut emissions nearly in half by 2030 and reach net-zero by 2040\, a decade sooner than previously estimated\, in order to limit global warming to 1.5* Celsius. While we expect the incoming Biden-Harris administration to strengthen emissions regulations\, it’s incumbent on businesses to protect their own future by investing in becoming carbon neutral. \nWhile we reduce fossil-fuel use\, we also need to rethink consumer products based on fossil fuels. Plastics survive in the environment for years. A plastic bag can take anywhere from 10-1\,000 years to decompose\, and a plastic bottle can take 450 years. \nWhile we rightly focus attention on emissions reductions\, businesses can also contribute to a healthier ecosystem and their own resilience by reducing or eliminating single-use plastics in their products. \nWe will hear from Dan Bailey\, president of Amavida Coffee Roasters\, about his company’s journey to becoming carbon and plastics neutral. \nIf you have any questions or would like any additional information about this webinar\, please contact Martha Newell-Kinsman (mnewell-kinsman@ceres.org) or Clausell Stokes (cstokes@ceres.org). \nTo better understand the communities we serve at our events\, we invite registrants to voluntarily self-identify their gender and ethnicity. Please note that all of your answers will be kept strictly confidential and will only be used in aggregate.

SUMMARY:Florida Vacay 2040
DESCRIPTION:We could all use a vacation from 2020. Speculative Futures Orlando wants to whisk you away to the future as we reimagine Florida tourism.\nWhat will tourism in Florida look like in 20 years? Will the same old players dominate\, or will a new generation of entrepreneurs transform the industry? Can we create a sustainable\, equitable future for tourism in the face of climate change? Will the current pandemic fundamentally alter the way people travel?\nWe’ll be exploring these questions using art and stories created by the Practopia Project with the help of some of Orlando’s top theme park designers and artists. This workshop will be the first in a series of public events to reimagine our community’s preferred futures for tourism.\nThere is little doubt that tourism will look very different by 2040. Now is the time to lend your voice and imagination to help create that future.
