SUMMARY:Social Entrepreneurship Education Day (SEED)
DESCRIPTION:The second Social Entrepreneurship Education Day is scheduled for Earth Day 2019\, Monday April 22\, from 8:30am-3pm. Social entrepreneurship\, and the change that it yields is one of the fastest growing areas within the field of entrepreneurship. Most people\, no matter what their age or stage in life desire to feel a sense of purpose with what they are doing\, and to positively contribute to making our world better. There are various elements that make up social change (social innovation (an idea)\, social entrepreneurship (a mindset)\, and social enterprise (a business).  At its most basic level\, social entrepreneurship is about doing business (for or nonprofit) for a social cause. They don’t measure their success in terms of profit alone – success to social entrepreneurs means that they have improved the world\, however they define that. \nThis event is for anyone interested in learning more about social entrepreneurship as well as anyone practicing social entrepreneurship that is looking to share best practices\, learn from others\, exchange knowledge\, and collaborate to build a better future. The day will feature keynote speakers\, breakout sessions\, lunch\, and then an afternoon experiential prototyping session.Teams will then pitch their prototypes for prizes. if you are interested in sponsoring this event\, or have further questions\, please contact either Andy Gold (agold3@hccfl.edu)\, or Beth Kerly (mkerly@hccfl.edu). \nTentative Agenda \n\n\n8:30 – 9:00am — Check-in and Registration \n9:15 – 10:00am — General Session: Introduction and Keynote \n10:15 – 11:00am – Breakout Sessions \n11:15am – 12:00pm – Ideation & Prototype Session – Present a Social Problem You Want to Solve \n12:00pm – 1:00pm – Lunch Networking \n1:15pm – 2:30pm – Pitch Session

SUMMARY:Military Women Your Time is Now
DESCRIPTION:This Conference is For All Military Women; Active Duty Service Members\, Military Spouses\, and Service Veterans along with men and women who support Military Women.\nWhy this event?\nMilitary women are an underserved community within and underserved community. Your needs and wants are often different than your male counterparts\, yet are often overlooked because of the skewed percentages of those who have actively served. With over 2\,000\,000 Female Veterans and nearly 2\,000\,000 additional Military and Veteran Spouses\, it’s time for you to have a voice that is heard\, a platform that can be seen\, and the opportunity to be understood. \nWe must empower the leaders needed to shift us in a direction for the better. By providing you a space to explore your challenges\, double down on your strengths\, and gain the confidence needed to step into your natural leadership roles within our community\, is how we can help transform lives\, transform families\, and eventually transform this country as a whole. \nThe Women Ambassadors Forum wants to celebrate and honor you for all of your sacrifices\, for standing behind your service members and Veterans\, and for finding yourself in the same foxholes as your male counterparts. \nLet us come together and provide you the space necessary to be heard\, seen\, and acknowledged so that we can empower one another to continue serving our country and communities through first leading ourselves. Together\, we can effect change on a national scale and take back control of the country that has given us a chance at our American Dreams. \nYou served your country\, You served your family\, Now it’s time to serve and honor yourself!

SUMMARY:FridaysForFuture: Climate Change Protest
DESCRIPTION:On May 24th\, students and allies across the globe will once again strike from to demand climate justice. During the week of March 15\, there were at least 1.6 million strikers on all 7 continents\, in more than 125 countries and in well over 2000 places. \nLocally\, we live in a state which will bear the biggest effects of climate change. Yet despite this\, our leaders refuse to act. Help us send a message that we can do better. \nHere are some general guidelines:\n1. Fridaysforfuture wants you to only strike in a way that you feel safe with. \n2. Fridaysforfuture are unlikely to be able to provive legal support if there are problems\, so FFF advises strikers to contact local NGOs. These NGOs usually know local lawyers\, who are well versed in protest situations. \n3. We are a peaceful and quiet striking organization\, but unfortunately we have already seen examples in some countries\, where some individuals or organizations try to join a strike for the purpose of causing trouble. Please take care and prioritize your own safety. \nPlease let us know if we can help with further questions. \nhttps://www.fridaysforfuture.org/

SUMMARY:SPECTRUM
DESCRIPTION:LET’S JOIN FORCES\n\n\nThe next innovation boom isn’t coming from New York or San Francisco — it’s radiating from cities like Atlanta\, New Orleans\, and Memphis\, with a new wave of talented pioneers who are building game-changing socially conscious solutions across industries. The fastest-growing population of American entrepreneurs — people of color — are leading the charge\, responding to the real needs of their communities and creating conscious companies that have a purpose beyond profit. \nBut while brilliant minds are plentiful\, investment in and support for leaders of color is not. The racial equity gap persists\, preventing great startups from scaling and thriving. Innovators and founders of color are systematically under-recognized and under-resourced. Now is the time for change. \nAt SOCAP and Conscious Company Media\, we know the urgent need for access\, inclusion\, and impact. For over a decade\, we’ve surfaced new solutions by gathering diverse perspectives to address the unique obstacles that we all face when markets fail. Together\, we strive to better understand the challenges at hand and implement strategies to overcome those barriers. Let’s explore the full range of possibilities for creating equity and shared prosperity. \nThis June in Atlanta\, GA\, we’ll host SPECTRUM — a two-day immersive convening to bring together business leaders\, entrepreneurs\, thought leaders\, cross-sector practitioners\, and investors to identify ways to build an impact economy based on equity\, diversity\, and inclusion where everyone can thrive. \nJoin us in Atlanta\, GA on June 12-13\, 2019 to unlock the full range of possibilities. \n\n\nREGISTER TO ATTEND\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYOU’RE INVITED\n\n\nIf you are a leader in the following areas\, we invite you to join us: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nmission-driven business focused on impact\nangel investing and investor networks\nsocial entrepreneurship\nrace and equity\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\ntechnology and innovation\nsustainability and economic development\nphilanthropy\nconsultants and wealth advisors\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for real\, leading-edge conversations about how to close the racial wealth gap and create systems for identifying\, fostering\, and supporting entrepreneurs and business leaders of color. \nOver two days\, we’ll share the tools\, insights\, and innovations that mission-aligned businesses\, social entrepreneurs\, and impact investors are using to drive change. Through a curated mix of panel discussions\, fireside chats\, networking sessions\, and receptions\, we’ll cut through the noise and have honest\, unfiltered conversations. \nMost importantly: We need you. In order to do this right\, we need your ideas\, expertise\, creativity\, and experience — and we need it there in the room. Let’s build an ecosystem where we listen and learn how to create opportunities for equity for those working and innovating in the social-impact universe. Let’s grow and build solutions together.
