FLORIDA CLIMATE WEEK 2022
VoLo Foundation’s annual Florida Climate Week™ (FCW) will be a virtual, free-to-access event happening October 3 -7, 2022.Presentations will address the impacts of climate change on the state of Florida, with a heavy emphasis on solutions in place to help mitigate carbon emissions and create more resilient communities, while communicating the urgency of the crisis. We strive to bring this valuable information to our attendees at no cost and at a high level of convenience. All FCW sessions will be available after their airtime to revisit on the Whova platform and on VoLo Foundation’s YouTube page in perpetuity.
THEME: THE PATH TO SUSTAINABILITY
Decarbonization in Florida is crucial. There are ample ways to reduce or eliminate emissions across many sectors. Our hope is to highlight efforts at the nonprofit, for-profit, and government levels. VoLo Foundation has a problem-solving mindset, recognizes problems as growth opportunities and focusses on achieving success by finding solutions. We hope to bring optimism and a renewed sense of commitment about what a collective effort to decarbonize Florida could mean.
Topic Areas and Format FCW will span five days, adhering to a specific topic area each day. Those areas are as follows:
1. Monday, 10/3/2022 – Changing the Voltage(Electricity) It’s time to light up the Sunshine State with clean, renewable energy.
2. Tuesday, 10/4/2022 – The Carbon-Free Way(Transport) Making low-carbon mobility the standard in Florida.
3. Wednesday, 10/5/2022 – The Urban Evolution (Urban Development) Planning and building for a carbon-freeFlorida
4. Thursday, 10/6/2022 – Feeding Our Future (Food and Agriculture)
5. Friday, 10/7/2022 – Natural Wonders (Natural Assets)Preserving the natural landscape
